Seniors Attend "Reality Check" at PDC High
On Wednesday, April 16 Cassville Seniors attended the Reality Check activity at Prairie du Chien High School along with seven other schools from the area including River Ridge, Seneca, Wauzeka, Priairie du Chien, Boscobel, Clayton Ridge (IA), and Central Community (IA). This was the first time the event was held at the high school--usually it is held at the Armory. Due to a remodel project at the Armory, the event had to be moved.
Reality Check is a financial simulation where students receive a one-month paycheck from their chosen career. Students also receive a random life scenario in which they are single, married, divorced, kids, no kids, smoker, non-smoker, pay or receive child support. They must spend down to $100 without going broke by paying for housing, transportation, monthly bills, insurance, investing, etc. Law enforcement, nurses, and the fate booth can also change their situation quickly--just like in life--as students are stopped to suddenly find out they have an injury, a traffic ticket, or some other unexpected incident.
Cassville was represented well by our Seniors. All of our students finished and many positive comments were made by the business volunteers about the Cassville students!
